Boutique colonial hotel · Antigua, near the ruins of La Recolección

Suites set within the walls of a former convent, with candlelit cloisters, a spa and one of Antigua's finest restaurants.

Whitewashed courtyard at dusk with soft lighting

About the stay

Built around the arcaded cloisters of a former convent, Convento de la Ceiba is Antigua at its most romantic. A great ceiba tree shades the central garden, the original stone arches are lit by hundreds of candles each evening, and the suites blend colonial antiques with contemporary Guatemalan design.

The spa uses volcanic stones and local coffee and cacao in its treatments, and the restaurant serves a refined take on highland cooking with ingredients from nearby farms. It is the kind of place where you plan to explore all afternoon and end up staying in.
